ZIA PARK, NMOctober is US Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness, prevention and treatment of the disease. Tracks around the county have contributed to various charities by setting aside race days dedicated to the cause, and ZIA PARK on Saturday, October 25 will hold their own ‘Race to Whip Cancer Day‘. All jockeys will wear pink silks to commemorate the occasion. COLONIAL DOWNS may soon close

 

COLONIAL DOWNS SURRENDERS RACING LICENSE:
The owner of Colonial Downs in Virginia surrendered the track’s racing license on October 14th at a meeting of the Virginia Racing Commission and said the track and its seven off-track betting parlors would close as of Nov. 1. The Daily Racing Form has the scoop @ www.drf.com
