Yes, for US racing fans there is no finer official close to the year’s champion racing season then the wonderment that is The Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Two days of the sport’s finest will compete for the most prestigious of titles, the most elite of bragging rights and the most generous of purses.

Our editorial cartoon features a few crowd favorites who should grace this year’s card: (from left to right) Jose Ortiz swaying the good miss Elate, Rajiv Maragh to board By The Moon, Victor Espinoza to ride Stellar Wind, contender for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff Elate, Classic rival Gun Runner, 2016 Classic victor Arrogate, Big Money Mike Smith, a jumping Johnny ‘V’ Velazquez part of Team Pure Silver, and Joel Rosario pilot of Mind Your Biscuits.

His last work as of 9.4.17 was breezing 1:12:60 at 6F from Fair Hill, MD. Irish War Cry’s next start is slated for the 2017 Pennsylvania Derby at Part Racing and Casino, September 23rd.

On August 16th, 2017, The New York Race Track Chaplaincy will honor Kiaran and Letty McLaughlin at their Annual Brunch which will be held at Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, NY from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM. In attendance will be approximately 150 of many of the top names in thoroughbred racing from New York, Florida, Kentucky, California, and Dubai. The New York Chaplaincy ministers to the heart and soul of the backstretch community with social service programs, recreational programs, educational opportunities, children’s enrichment programs, and non-denominational services. They cannot accomplish their mission without your support and thank you for partnering with them. Their 2017 official cartoon art, guest invitations and ad journal cover were donated by OFF THE PACE creator, A.E. Sabo.

FLIGHT ARROGATE TO DUBAI

Nominations for Dubai World Cup night is a “who’s who” list of equine racing talents.

Included is the world’s #1, Arrogate, plus Mubtaahij and Hoppertunity. Songbird and Tepin are also nominated as are sprinters Mind Your Biscuits and Defrong.

In all, 779 horses from 22 countries received recognition, “We are gratified that our support for international racing in the form of subsidies and prize money continues to attract such a strong response from the world’s biggest names,” said Malih Al Basti, Meydan vice chairman and chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee.

Arrogate races for the $10 million Cup on March 25.
