Jocks, Jeans and The PDJF

TAMPA BAY DOWNS played host to the first JOCKEYS AND JEANS/THE PERMANENTLY DISABLED JOCKEYS FUND charity event on March 29th. OFF THE PACE was there and contributed artwork for the inaugural poster. The day featured jockeys gathering to celebrate their fallen comrades. In attendance were hall of famers, retired and active jocks, as well race fans from the Tampa Bay Area. Well known names such as Pat Day, Jacinto Vasquez, Walter Blum, Barbara Jo Rubin, Diane Crump, Mary Russ, Eddie Donnally, Mike Manganello, Barry Pearl, Darrell Brown to name a few, honored special guests who suffered disabling on-track injuries; Eibar Coa, William Klinke, Julia Brimo, Jose Diaz, Michael Straight, and Ramon Dominguez. Dominguez, now an unpaid advocate for the PDJF, has raised awareness within the Thoroughbred industry of the long-term effects of concussions and head injuries on jockeys from his own unfortunate injury at the peak of his career.
